Background
George was a native of Balavil. George was born on 14 December 1894, Bellville Garden, Alvie son of Ebenezer and Jessie Hossack (m.s. Munro). His parents were married 3 January 1890 at Leith.
1911 Census George was living at Balavil Gardens, Kingussie and he was described as 16 years old and employed as an ironmonger and his father, Ebenezer as a domestic gardener. John had seven siblings. At the time of his death his parents were living at Whin House, Dundas Street, Comrie, Perthshire.
War Record
George died on 23 March 1918 and his body was exhumed and reburied in Sailly Saillisel British Cemetery.
None of his effects were returned to Base.
