Background
Hugh was born to Hugh Munro, Quarryman, and Jessie m.s. Macphee on 5 January 1897 at East End, Kingussie.
The 1901 Census shows him living with his parents in High Street, Kingussie and he was called Hughie.
In the 1911 Census the family are living at Dunbarry Cottages, Garraline Road, Kingussie and Hugh was aged 14 and working as a GPO Telegraph Messenger. At the time of his death Hugh’s parents were still living at Dunbarry Cottages, Garraline Road, Kingussie.
War Record
At the National Archive, Kew, the World War One Service Records show Hugh served in the Royal West Kent Regiment in 1916 as a Private. He also served in the Labour Corps. He is buried at Kingussie Churchyard.
