Background
Christopher was born on 14 December 1885 at 17 Church Street, Inverness. He was the son of Christina McKerlich who, at the time of his birth, was a Domestic Servant and domiciled at Bundalloch, Parish of Kintail, Ross-shire. At the time of his death his mother, Christina McKerlich, was still living in Bundaloch where she died in 1920.
War Record
Christopher enlisted in Kingussie and travelled to France on 19 February 1915 and was Killed in Action 18 May 1915 at Festubert. He is commemorated at Le Touret and is commemorated as MacKerlich.
Christopher is also commemorated on the gravestone of WIlliam Rose and Elizabeth Denoon and family at Kirkhill Cemetery, Inverness-shire but his connection to them is not known.
He is also remembered on the Ring of Rememberance, Notre Dame-de-Lorette.
Sometimes McKerlich is spelt McErlich or MacKerlich.
