Background
Harry (Henry) was born on 7 April 1884 at Dunachton, Alvie. His father Alexander Mackintosh died 19 October 1896 when Henry was 12.
The 1901 Census describes Harry as a Baker’s Apprentice living in High Street, Kingussie and in the 1911 Census as a baker living in Beau Vista Cottages, Kingussie. Prior to enlisting he was working as a baker in Glasgow. At the time of his death Harry was described as son of the late Alexander Mackintosh and Mrs. MacKintosh, of Beauvista, Kingussie. He had one older and two younger brothers and a younger sister.
His three brothers also served.
War Record
Henry travelled to France on 19 February 1915 and was Killed in Action on 27 September 1915. His body was not recovered and he is commemorated on the Loos Memorial to The Missing.
Also remembered on the Kingussie and Insh Memorial in Kingussie Parish Church and the Ring of Remembrance, Notre Dame de Lorette.
